Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight in the shape of a truncated sphere; dark colour, with brown veins. It shows signs of wear and the entire surface is damaged by large dents and scratches. The upper base is incised with two dots, which indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a sextans, corresponding to two ounces. The other base is plain. The diameter of the sphere is 3.35 cm; the diameter of the upper base measures 2 cm and that of the lower base measures 2.1 cm.
