Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight in the shape of a truncated sphere; dark colour; well-polished. It is in good conditions, except for few scratches on the bases. The upper base is incised with two dots, which indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a sextans, corresponding to two ounces. The other base is plain. The diameter of the sphere is 3.3 cm; the diameter of the upper base is 2 cm and that of the lower base is 2.1 cm.
