Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight in the shape of a truncated sphere; dark colour, well-polished. It presents some signs of wear: the upper base is damaged by dents and scratches; one small dent is also on the edge of the lower base. The lower base is incised with three small dots arranged to form a triangle; they indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a quadrans, corresponding to three ounces; the upper base is plain. The diameter of the sphere is 3.8 cm; the diameter of both bases measures 2.4 cm.
