Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight in the shape of a truncated sphere; dark colour, well-polished. It is in good conditions, with only a few scratches and one dent on the edge of both bases. The upper base is incised with four dots geometrically arranged to form a square; they indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a triens, corresponding to four ounces. The lower base is plain. The diameter of the sphere is 4.25 cm; the diameter of both bases measures 2.75 cm.
