Autoptic examination:
Basalt weight; dark colour and in the shape of a discoid or a truncated double cone. The centre of the lower base presents a large hole, which is 1.2 cm deep and 1.5 cm wide. The piece shows signs of wear, with some scratches and dents on both bases; the round side is damaged and the edges of the bases are smoothened. The lower base and the side of the object are inscribed with Greek letters, among which the Latin “e” stands out; the text reads: (on the base) εΛeθεeΥϵ VIIII - the last letter is an archaic e; (on the side) ΔοῦΛος εγω νeι δοῦλος – note that the diphthong οῦ is expressed by a monogram.
The upper base is plain. The diameter of the object is 15.3 cm; the diameter of the upper base is 9.1 cm, and that of the lower base is 9.6 cm.
