Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight in the shape of a truncated sphere; dark colour, well-polished. It is in fair conditions, except for a large dent on the edge of the upper base; the edge of the lower base presents a small dent too. A stone crack, shaped as a semi-circle, moves along the round body. In the centre of the upper base, three dots are incised to form a triangle; they indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a quadrans, corresponding to three ounces. The other base is plain. The diameter of the sphere is 4 cm; both bases have a diameter of 2.7 cm.
