Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight; black and well-polished, it shows some signs of wear, with superficial scratches, particularly on the upper base. Eight dots are incised in the centre of the upper base in the shape of an S and indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a semis, equivalent to half Libra and corresponding to 6 ounces. The other base is plain. The diameter of the upper base is 3.5 cm; that of the lower base is 3.7 cm.
