Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight; dark colour with brown shade. It shows some signs of wear, with the edges of both bases smoothened and minor dents along the round body; there are three small marks of white paint. The upper base presents two dots incised in the centre to indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a sextans, corresponding to two ounces and equivalent to 1/6 of a Libra. The diameter of the upper base is 1.9 cm, and that of the lower base is 2.5 cm.
