Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight; black colour, with some brown veins. It presents signs of wear: there are scratches along the round body and the edge of the upper base is damaged. Two dots are incised in the centre of the upper base to indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a sextans, corresponding to two ounces and equivalent to 1/6 of a Libra. The other base is covered by an old inventory label. The diameter of both bases measures 2 cm.
