Archaeological description
Glass weight. Disc. Colour (Farbe): dunkelblau. Iconography: No cross. No wreath. One imperial bust.
CPAI III/2: 6th17th century AD.Eastern Mediterranean. Weight for a gold coin (tremissis). Glass, 18 x 5 mm; 1.55 g. Inv. no. PMA 2870. Acquired in 2007. Description: Dark-blue coloured round weight with a central impression. The highly stylized bust is holding an object in its left hand. Although the inscription around the bust is weathered, it is likely to be read as +ΘΕΟΔⲰCIOV. An urban prefect with this name is mentioned on a lead seal dated to the 6th/7th century. The weight was broken and has been repaired.
