Archaeological description
Glass weight. Disc. Colour (Farbe): gelb. Iconography: No cross. No wreath. One imperial bust.
CPAI III/2: Middle of the 6th - 7th century. Eastern Mediterranean. Weight for a silver coin (light siliqua) or a gold coin (tremissis). Glass, 21 x 5 mm; 1.55 g. Inv. no. PMA 2868. Acquired in 2007. Description: Pale-yellow coloured round weight with a central impression of an anonymous dignitary. The bulging rim was flattened on the outer surface. Traces of such a surface treatment are rare. It can be proven on a glass weight ofNeilos in Houston, The Menil Collection.
