Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight; it is in good conditions, well-polished and with little to no wear. In the centre of the upper base, two dots are incised to indicate the denomination of the weight: a sextans, corresponding to two ounces. The diameter of the upper base is 2.1 cm, and that of the lower base is 2.6 cm. The weight is not perfectly symmetrical and, therefore, its height measures 2.1 cm on one side and is slightly smaller on the other side.
