Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight; black colour with brown veins; well-polished. The piece is slightly worn, with minor scratches and with the edges of the upper and lower bases smoothened. The diameter of the lower base is 2.25 cm, while diameter of the upper base is 2.1 cm; here two dots are carved in the centre to indicate the denomination of the weight: a sextans, corresponding to two ounces.
