Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight; black colour, with brown veins; well-polished. The piece is slightly worn, with the edges of the upper and lower bases rather smoothened, and some dents and scratches on the entire body; there are two spots of white paint on the side. The lower base bears the label of the previous collection, partially broken, and presents eight small dots carved in its centre. The maximum diameter measures 8.3 cm. The diameter of the lower and upper faces is 5.7 cm and 5.6 cm, respectively. The weight can be considered a dupondius or bilibra.
